It is sad when a rebranding goes bad in several ways... What is worse is when someone discovers that the new brand name means D**K in some foreign language...
A brief history, the company called MTC is a telecom provider in several countries across the Middle East and Africa. They rebranded and revealed their new brandname a couple of days ago "Zain". The whole rebranding took a couple of years and many leaks and scandals and yesterday it ended with someone discovering that "Zain" means "D**K" or "P**IS" in Hebrew...

I agree, when choosing an international name that will reflect a company, a worldwide one should have considered checking it out in at least some different languages.
Vengaboys, a pop-dance band was asked to perform back in 2001 in the world music awards in monaco and they had to rename the band for that event to be bengaboys because their name meant something offensive.
