iPhone tourism in France?

Some law in France is forcing Apple to break down and offer an unlocked version of its iPhone. Here in the US, unlocked iPhones are the electronic leprecons. Many claim to have seen them, some work some don't. Some say if you get it unlocked you have to watch out for updates and turn off your phone when they're rolling out updates otherwise the download turns your unlocked iPhone into a brick!

If unlocked iPhone will be avilable, and legally in France, does that mean more people will be taking their vacations in France next year, and pick up a legitimate unlocked iPhone on their way?

Want to engrave your iPod? It's free

I am not about to buy an iPod, but I was exploring the ordering process on the Mac website when I came across the engraving feature. When you order an iPod thru Mac website, you can add 2 lines of engraving to the back side.

How cool is that!! Your own personal message engraved in metal. It doesn't get anymore personal.

Beta Testing Pirates of the Caribbean!

Ok so I have been on the waiting list for beta testing Pirates of the Caribbean Online for the last 3 months... During which I checked reviews, visited the blog and discussed several issues with a couple of other beta testers...

And then a couple of days ago I get the long awaited for email! I got it! And now I can test play this game and see how things goes...

Downloaded it, and went through the initial phase of registering and then creating my avatar! Which really surprised me, the guys really took time and put lots of effort in the interface and the options given to you while create the avatar. Lots of customization in there, well done.

So I am in... Went on and started moving around, familiarizing myself with the environment and controls... Cool tutorial and wow suddenly I notice I have been sitting for like 6 hours...

Next post will have pics from the Pirates World, I promise...

13 yrs around the world

Jason Lewis made it back to England on Saturday after embarking 13 years ago on a world trip using only the human power!

"Everything I've been doing for the last 13 years has been in some way connected to this trip and tomorrow that will be no more" says Lewis...

His lowest points on the trip included breaking his legs in the United States where he was hit by a car and being thrown in jail in Egypt when he was suspucted to be a spy as he crossed borders illegally from Sudan :)

But he says the highs on the trip compensated for the lows!

A true living legend...

More on the story here.

And you can view the whole trip on http://www.expedition360.com/

Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton on fan video

Last week's Formula 1 race at Fuji Tokyo saw a lot of retirements, mainly due to the severe rain. One of retirements was Mark Webber and Thomas Vettel. During the race, no one watching on TV saw what had happened, we only saw Webber going out in what seemed like Vettel running into the back of his car.

But in this day and age, the broadcast crew of Japanese TV are no longer the only source. A fan caught what really happened on his video camera, and he posted it on YouTube. Upon getting news of it, Red Bull Racing submits the evidence to the stewards and sparks an investigation of the incident.

Turns out, Lewis Hamilton almost passes the safety car, goes wide on a turn and comes to a halt. In order not to pass Hamilton and get penalized, Webber slows down as well, confused as to what Hamilton is doing. Vettel is caught out by surprise and cannot slow down in time, runs into the back of Webber's car.

Fascinating, how the spread of electronics, and mass media reach of YouTube empowered an amateur video to have such an impact.

Saw IV

For every SAW fan out there, yesterday a new clip was uploaded onto youtube and wow did it stir things up or what! Doing around 2 million views in less than a day :)

Facebook Application sells for $20,000 on eBay!!!

Ok go get started developing Facebook Apps now!!!
A simple application just got sold for $20K on ebay. It is called the "I Am Hungry" application and it got sold for $20,100 on ebay. It is said the application has more than 250k subscribers with around 1000 daily active users.

The ebay description read:

"Buying "I am hungry" will give you access to a quarter of a million users that are just waiting to be energized and attracted to the application. If your company has related products such as ordering food online or restaurant guides, buying this application and investing some time to improve it would give you a jumpstart in the Facebook application world."

This really makes me wonder what is next on Facebook :)
